'George' can get West Finish reign
"The Madness of George III," the historic drama by Alan Bennett ("A History Boys") elevated for just about any U.K. tour by helmer Christopher Luscombe, will transfer for the West End's Apollo Theater for just about any limited run Jan. 18 - March 31 getting a Jan. 23 opening. Produced by Jesse Bird and lit by Oliver Fenwick, the expansion stars David Haig as George III, the next Hanoverian king from the United kingdom, in the 20-strong cast including Clive Francis, Beatie Edney and Madhav Sharma. Initially produced with the National Theater in 1991, the play was later converted to a film "The Madness of King George" helmed by Nicholas Hytner. Contact Variety Staff at news@variety.com
